Park City Art and Culture

Park City Art Paint BrushWith over 20 Art Galleries on Historic Main Street alone, the free summer concert series, the festivals, museums, theatres, and of course, The Sundance Film Festival, the Park City Arts and Culture community is a thriving one!  No matter the season, no matter the interest, your new hometown will always have something going on that will never cease to amaze you.

The Arts

The Park City Art district takes its art seriously, and treasures its artists; run by a seven-member board, the Public Art Advisory Board is responsible for everything from gardens, to public park benches to Olympic monuments. If you need a little break while exploring Historic Main Street, be sure to have a seat on the Franz the Bear Bench. Franz is quite friendly and would love to have his picture taken with you! For those who prefer this casual approach to art, The Last Friday Gallery Stroll, held on the last Friday of every month from 6:00-9:00 pm is definitely something you would be interested in exploring.  Stroll in and out of different galleries showcasing artists and art events while enjoying refreshments provided by the participating establishments and prepare to be dazzled by the talents of Park City artists.

Performing Arts in Park City

The Egyptian Theatre opened on Christmas day in 1926 and has been a showplace for local performers from that day on.  Today, this establishment whose mission statement is “the Egyptian Theatre is a community asset dedicated to enriching lives through the performing arts” stays true to its mission statement.  Hosting a variety of performances from film showings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, to live musical performances, to Holiday Spectaculars, The Mary G Steiner Egyptian Theatre is the performing rock that holds the community of Park City together.  Summer time in Park City brings along a special type of performing arts in the form of live concerts held under the watchful gaze of the surrounding mountains.  Whatever your flavor, from country to classic, pull up a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy the free (and some not so free) concert series at Deer Valley Music Festival, St Regis Big Stars Bright Nights or the Beethoven Festival Park City.

Culture

So you’ve been to the shows, you’ve listened to all the music, you’ve skied your legs off and now it’s time to experience a little culture in Park City.  On the weekends through September, why not take a chance on The Park Silly Sunday Market?  It’s a perfect opportunity to meet your new neighbors in your new home town and experience a little of everything Park City has to offer…from fresh Farmers Market Produce to Chainsaw Carving and Hot Air Balloons, vacationers will want to come back EVERY Sunday while residents will be glad that all they have to do is step out their door and enjoy all that is wonderful about Park City’s Silly Sunday Market.
